Cook bacon until browned, remove from pot to set aside. Drain most of the fat.
Cook ground beef until no longer pink. Drain fat and drippings completely.
Add onion and garlic to the ground beef, cook until beef is browned and onion is translucent.
Add spices to the beef, stir.
Add tomato, rinsed beans, and water or stock to the beef mix.
Chop or further break up cooked bacon, and add back to pot.
Bring to boil, turn down and simmer as long as you can wait. 20 min minimum, better if simmered 45-60 min.
Serve topped with sour cream or cheese.
